If you’re looking for more fun things to do on your Pigeon Forge vacation, plan to spend the day at The Island in Pigeon Forge. It has been a beloved tourist attraction since it opened in June 2013. Let us tell you more before you see it in person. Here is a list of 4 fantastic attractions at The Island in Pigeon Forge:
1. Great Smoky Mountain Wheel
It is no surprise that The Great Smoky Mountain Wheel is the centerpiece of The Island in Pigeon Forge. This is because the ride is over 200 feet tall, making it one of the tallest attractions in the Southeast. It has all glass gondolas that seat up to 8 people. Riders can look out and see breathtaking views of the Great Smoky Mountains.
2. The Escape Game
If you love puzzles, you have to check out The Escape Game. Visitors love it, as they get to be inside a puzzle. Each room can have up to 8 players at one time. Your group has to escape the room before time runs out by completing various challenges. What’s more? There are 4 unique themes to choose from. For example, in The Heist, you are an agent tasked with returning a stolen painting to an art gallery. In Gold Rush, you are in 1800’s California trying to find the inheritance of a deceased relative! No matter what story you choose, everyone must work together to achieve a common goal. This makes it a great team-building activity for your travel group.
3. SkyFly: Soar America
SkyFly: Soar America is a unique attraction where you can experience the thrill of flying like a bird! Visitors sit with their feet dangling in front of a 50-foot spherical screen. Visitors will “fly” over some of the most breathtaking places in the United States, such as Mount Rushmore in South Dakota and the beaches of Maui, Hawaii. You can even see some popular destinations in Tennessee, including the Great Smoky Mountains and Bristol Motor Speedway. In addition to the screen, the film is made even more immersive with the use of special effects, including scents, wind, and mist.
4. The Alcatraz East Crime Museum
The Alcatraz East Crime Museum is a unique museum in Pigeon Forge. It is named after the famous military fort and maximum security prison in California. Inside, visitors can explore interactive exhibits and learn about different aspects of the history of crime in the United States. For example, learn about the harsh consequences of committing a crime as you go into the full-scale model police station. Get your fingerprints and mugshot taken before experiencing the loneliness of sitting in a cell. In addition to the interactive activities, the exhibits also have interesting artifacts, one of which is an old-time punishment device called a pillory. The museum also houses belongings from infamous American criminals. See Ted Bundy’s car and more!
