If you haven’t heard, Dollywood announced plans in 2021 for a $500 million investment strategy over the next 10 years. Part of the announcement included the addition of the HeartSong Lodge & Resort and the long-term goal of eventually becoming a year-round attraction. Another part of this announcement included a record-breaking family attraction that is coming to the theme park. What is the new attraction?
You probably are wondering what the newest attraction will be. In the fall of 2021, the Pigeon Forge Planning Commission approved plans submitted by Dollywood for a 20-acre site plan. It is referred to as a “family attraction.” This site plans included a track, a loading station, a que tent, a maintenance building, and a food area.
Although no official announcement has come from Dollywood theme park yet, guests can see the start of construction happening around Wildwood Grove if you visit the park right now. There are construction vehicles, yellow caution tape, and survey markers near the large clearing behind this section of the park, which is where many people speculate the newest addition will be.
The rumors are it will be a new roller coaster. We will continue to update this blog as Dollywood releases information about the construction!
About Wildwood Grove
If you haven’t been to Dollywood theme park since Wildwood Grove was added, you’re missing out! This was the newest expansion project the park took on, and it is a whimsical area dedicated to children and the Smoky Mountains. It opened in 2019 as part of a $35 million expansion, with several attractions, play areas, and snack shops.
Kids will have a blast on family friendly rides like Black Bear Trail, the Dragonflier, and The Mad Mockingbird. When it’s hot out, head over to Wildwood Creek where you can cool off in the water on the splash pads, and there are shaded areas and benches for parents to sit and watch their kids play. Plus, when you’re hungry, you can head to the Till & Harvest Food Hall or one of the snack shops.

Dollywood is full of family friendly fun, so no matter what section of the park you visit, you’ll find something fun for everyone! People who don’t enjoy rides can stop and watch one of the professionally produced concerts or shows. Foodies will want to swing by almost every restaurant and shop to try delicious treats, like funnel cakes, barbeque, or the famous cinnamon bread! Thrill seekers will want to hop aboard all of the roller coasters, and the whole family won’t want to miss out on rides like River Rampage or the Dollywood Express!
